About
Freedom Alley Studios had a short life span, but was long on the recording. Starting in a circa 1881 farmhouse located in the heart of West Virginia, Freedom Alley Studios began the quest to record and document music as it was made locally. This music exists untainted by corporate stratagems, the true thoughts and emotions of singers and songwriters, played as they were intended to be heard, raw and unmolested. As the time played out, Freedom Alley became more portable and was able to go on location to record local musicians live in their idiom, creating an extra dimension sometimes lost in the programmed recording parlance of our day.
The boards and mics at Freedom Alley Studios have long stood silent, but for a short time, it’s glory flew long into the night, documenting the homegrown works of unsung modern heroes that pursue their vision for the love of the art. What has been archived is by no means the complete library, but a small collection maintained for the artists.
